Job Description

We’re on the hunt for an agile engineering leader ready to tackle the challenges of an early-stage startup. You'll play a pivotal role, working directly with the CEO and our budding engineering team, driving the growth of both our team and product portfolio. Your mission will involve coding and hands-on product development for about 3/4 of your time. The other quarter? You'll be instrumental in crafting our tech strategy, refining our development processes, fostering team collaboration, and spearheading our recruitment efforts to build a formidable engineering force.

Job Responsibilities

  • Backend Development: Construct VetraFi's banking client to interface seamlessly with our BaaS sponsor and partner bank, involving:
    • Integration with essential BaaS provider APIs for account openings, fund wiring, account closures, beneficiary additions, etc.
  • Team Leadership: Guide, mentor, and develop our engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • Process Optimization: Implement and refine engineering processes, methodologies, and best practices to enhance productivity and product quality.
  • Strategy and Planning: Collaborate with executive leadership to define technical strategy and roadmap, ensuring alignment with VetraFi's business goals and customer needs.
  • Desirable Skills: Additional consideration for candidates with development/infrastructure experience.
  • Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with our current tech stack, including Typescript, React Native, Express, AWS, and PostgreSQL.

Job Requirements

  • Versatile full stack with 5+ years in the field. Startup or fintech background strongly preferred but not essential.
  • Ability to see the company's current position and ideal future state, with the skills to develop towards that direction.
  • Capable of progressing rapidly without micromanagement, valuing autonomy in planning and execution.
  • Proactive, ambitious, and professionally mature, ready to lead and innovate.
  • Based in the NY area, comfortable with a hybrid work model (2 - 3 days in-person / week).
  • Eager to contribute to a groundbreaking product for an underserved demographic. If this resonates with you, we’re excited to connect!
